A total of 600 mud-bored piles, 16 metres deep, were drilled as part of the project. Mud-bored piles are a commonly used technique for building deep foundations in difficult soils.

These piles are created using a special drill that cuts a hole in the ground to the required depth. Drilling mud is used to maintain hole stability during the drilling process. Once the hole has been dug, steel reinforcement is inserted inside the hole to strengthen the pile.
